About my Work

In 2020 I decided to reconstruct my website and have it also serve as an archive of my work.

The Covid-19 pandemic made it even more urgent to enhance my visibility on the Internet.

While selecting drawings, paintings and sculptures for the website, I realized that the essence of my work was already manifest in the sculptural work I had made at the Lucerne School of Art and Design.

That was the starting point from where I explored the possibilities of painting and drawing, and discovered my own visual language and my own creative process. I sometimes lost my goal, but I have always returned to this essence.

After art school I left Switzerland for a residence at De Ateliers in the Netherlands, where I was more focused on painting. The work I then made shows a rather sculptural and formal attitude. I am interested in abstractions as forms which may or may not end up in figurative paintings. I frequently do research in art history, because I am trying to learn about the way other artists use (layers of) paint, about brush strokes and composition in order to constantly refine my technique and vision.

My paintings are mostly based on my drawings. My recent paintings contain figures and animals and are also inspired by daily life, like family, childhood, motherhood or my cat. My drawings, on the other hand, seem to float from my consciousness. My work is also often inspired by memories and by stills which I happen to see in the outside world and in my own life. 

However, what it comes down to the end is the how, how a work is painted or drawn.
